Chalala Micro Bakery is a small (micro) bakery located outside Pittsworth (west of Toowoomba) in Queensland. It was set up in 2007 by Laurie and Rhonda Stiller who took a tree change from Sydney to live near family. The bakery is the only one of its kind on the Darling Downs – surprising perhaps since it lies in the heart of the best grain growing area in Australia.
We have a small wood-fired masonry oven which gives a special type of heat and imparts a special flavour. Our sourdough breads and muesli are made from the best organic ingredients we can locate and wherever possible we use local flour and other ingredients.
Chalala bread and muesli is now available at the Darling Downs Farmers' Market which is held on the first and third Sunday of each month from 7.00 am. The markets are located on Village Green behind Town Hall where we sell a wide range of breads and muesli.
You can find out what we'll be baking for the market plus information on the bakery and our baking challenges by checking out our Facebook Page.
